5 Tempting Pear Recipes
Pear recipes
Pears are ideal for eating raw, but also for baking and preserving. They taste delicious as an ingredient in sweet dishes and cakes, and go well as an accompaniment to savory dishes with game or poultry.
The fruits can also be used to make spirits such as liqueur or fruit brandy.
1.Pears In Red Wine Sauce
This is one of my absolute favorite desserts. Totally easy to prepare and so far everyone who has tried it likes it.
Ingredients( For 4 Servings):
- 4 pears
- 500 ml red wine
- 150g sugar
- 4 cloves
- ½ stick cinnamon
- 4 slices of untreated lemon
- 1 tbsp starch flour
- Pears in red wine sauce
Preparation:
Then cook the pears in the red wine with cloves, cinnamon, lemon slices and sugar until soft. This takes approx. 5 – 10 minutes.
Then remove the pears from the pot and also remove the spices and lemon slices.
Mix 1 tablespoon of starch flour with a little cold red wine and stir into the hot red wine. The result is a thick, creamy sauce.
Add the pears back in and let everything cool down.
To serve, cut the pear halves into a fan, place two halves on a plate and spread the sauce on top. But also
2.Pear And Lime Jam
Of course, jam always works... whether with just pears or in a combination of pears and other fruits!
Ingredients( for 1.5 liters of jam):
- 3-4 untreated limes
- 1 kg of ripe pears
- 500 g preserving sugar 2:1
Preparation:
Peel the peels thinly with the zester.
Then halve all the limes and squeeze them. Measure out 100 ml of lime juice.
Wash the pears, peel them, remove the core and then quarter them. Weigh out 900 g of pulp.
Then puree the pears together with the lime juice.
Now put the pear puree in a pot together with the lime peels and preserving sugar.
Bring all ingredients to the boil together.
Simmer for 4 minutes while stirring, making sure nothing burns.
Make a gelling test with a small blob on a cold saucer. If it sets within a short time, the jam is ready.
Remove any foam with a slotted spoon, but you can also simply stir it in.
Then pour the hot mixture into hot-rinsed jars, close and leave to cool upside down.
The amount makes approximately 1.5 liters of jam each.
3.White Apple And Pear Sangria
Ingredients (For Approx. 1.5 l Sangria):
- 1 bottle of fruity white wine
- 120 ml lemon liqueur
- 2 untreated lemons
- 50-60g sugar
- 1 green apple (e.g. Golden Delicious or Granny Smith)
- 1 pear
- 350 ml sparkling water
Preparation:
Wash, peel, core and cut the apple and pear into very thin slices.
In a large jug, add the wine, liqueur, lemon zest and sugar. Stir until the sugar has completely dissolved.
Add lemon juice and fruit slices.
Place in the refrigerator for about 4 hours until everything is well cooked.
Just before serving, add the sparkling water, maybe a few ice cubes - the refreshing summer drink is ready!
4.Pear Ginger Syrup
If you prefer it without alcohol, I recommend mineral water with this delicious pear-ginger syrup - super refreshing and absolutely delicious!
Ingredients (For Approx. 500 Ml Syrup):
- 450 g pear pulp
- 50 g fresh ginger (peeled)
- 250 ml water
- 500 g syrup sugar
Preparation:
Let cool down.
Mix the cooled pear mixture with 500 g of syrup sugar so that the sugar dissolves.
Leave covered at room temperature overnight.
Then strain through a cloth or fine sieve.
Bring the syrup to the boil in a large pot and let it boil for 3-4 minutes while stirring.
Pour syrup into hot-rinsed bottles, close tightly and store in a cool place.
5.Boil Pears
Of course, the classic shouldn't be missing: simply cook pears yourself, so you can have some of them all year round :-)
Ingredients( For Four 1 Liter Jars):
- 4 kg of ripe pears
- 400
- 1 stick cinnamon
- 1 liter of water for the sugar solution
- Additionally some water for pickling and sterilizing
- A little bit of salt
Preparation:
Wash the pears, peel them, halve them, remove the core and immediately place them in the lightly salted water.
Bring the sugar to the boil in the water and let it boil well until it is completely dissolved.
Drain the pears and place them in the jars with the round side up.
Add ¼ stick of cinnamon to each.
Then pour the slightly cooled sugar water over it.
Close the jars tightly immediately.
Now the jars need to be sterilized: To do this, put some water in the oven's drip pan and sterilize the pear jars on the tray in the oven at 90 °C for 30 minutes.
